A reflexologist looks for areas of sensitivity or deposits on the feet that indicate potential weaknesses in the body. By working on these areas, it is possible to help the body recover.
What is Reflexology ?
Reflexology is a really wonderful and ancient therapy. It feels fantastic, is profoundly relaxing and when used correctly, can help the body with a wide range of conditions.
It is one of the oldest forms of complementary therapy with roots in ancient Eygpt, China and India. Modern medicine is a mere infant to the Grandmother of medicine, reflexology!
It is based on the theory that there are micro-systems on the feet, hands and face that connect to all aspects of our bodies. By massaging specific points on the feet, our reflexologist can affect corresponding parts of the body. It is really rather incredible.
Response Reflexology’s experienced therapist will look for areas of sensitivity or deposits on the feet that indicate potential weaknesses and causes of problems in the body. By working on these areas, it is possible to help the body recover.
What type of person has reflexology?
Anyone really. Some people who come to us use reflexology as a preventative treatment, by which we mean they use reflexology as a way of maintaining their health. These people tend to be the sorts of people run their own businesses or have high-stress jobs or lives. Don’t we all ! Without regular reflexology treatments the stress would probably start to impact negatively on their health and well being.
Some people come to us with a particular condition or illness and are looking for help in recovering. They may be looking for relief from pain ( for example, headaches, migraine, sinusitis, abdominal pain, sciatica, neck/shoulder/back pain etc), stress (anxiety, sleep problems), and also help with any hormonal problems (eg menopause, fertility issues, irregular menstrual cycle, endometriosis, help during pregnancy, inducing labour etc)
We see all walks of life, with all ailments.
Our Treatment Options
Response Reflexology offers you the clinical expertise of our therapist, Niamh Kelly, who is an experienced nurse, in comfortable surroundings at The Embankment Health Centre. Our prices are affordable and available at convenient clinic times. Number and frequency of treatments can be key to recovery. Some straightforward complaints can be resolved in one or two sessions, more complex problems may require a longer course of treatments.
Response Reflexology offers two types of treatment:
Firstly, a general or maintenance treatment where Niamh will work the whole foot in sequence. This suits people who like to use reflexology as a way of preventing illness. It is a deep, relaxing treatment that is fantastic for combating the effects of stress.
Secondly, a more clinical treatment that targets specific conditions or complaints. Niamh palpates (a sort of massages) the foot, then focusses on the areas related to the problem. These areas can be quite sensitive, but the more time spent on them, the better. The treatment itself can be very relaxing at the time, but the real benefit comes to the client after the treatment, that’s the therapists main objective.
